2027: Eno Adopted Sole Candidate For Uyo Federal Constituency

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has been adopted as sole Governorship candidate for Uyo Federal Constituency in the 2027 election.

The adoption took place during the Uyo Federal Constituency Town Square Meeting held at Ibom Hall grounds in Uyo at the weekend.

The unanimous decision followed a motion moved and seconded by Rt. Hon. Mark Esset and Hon. Ubong Attah respectively. This was a highlight of the event which saw massive turnout of constituents.

At the meeting, Governor Eno disbursed N492.7 million as farm, trade, and business development grants to 1187 beneficiaries in Uyo Federal Constituency. The grants were part of the empowerment initiatives of the Governor.

Addressing the crowd, Governor Eno said 276 constituents benefited from the ARISE Farmers grant, 628 got ARISE Traders grants, 263 received ARISE Equipment support, eight got N5 million MSME grants, and 12 received cars and mini buses.

Governor Eno said in his two years in office, 116 projects including roads, health centers, and schools have been executed in the Federal Constituency comprising Uyo, Uruan, Nsit Attai, and Ibesikpo Asutan LGAs.

He said the meeting’s purpose was to receive the Needs document for inclusion in the 2026 Peoples’ budget and to disburse grants to constituents. Adding that selection of beneficiaries was done through the ARISE Youth Employment portal.

Governor Eno appreciated the massive turnout, linking it to Uyo’s status as “landlords of Government House.” He also thanked Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, for leading his people to unite with the center.

The Governor promised to treat the needs document “accordingly, based on availability of funds.” He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making funds available for empowerment and development projects.

Governor Eno directed the Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development Center (Ibom LED) to commence training another 50 persons each from recognized female and male support groups for another set of empowerment.

He also announced a federal government-funded ward development empowerment initiative for 1000 persons per ward. The Governor urged the people to return to their respective wards to ensure entrepreneurs participate in the program.

Governor Eno celebrated Uduak Otu Ita, a daughter of Uyo Federal Constituency recently promoted to Commissioner of Police, presenting her with a brand new SUV. He emphasized unity and focus on the Akwa Ibom project.

“We want to continue to ask you to remain united. Please don’t abuse anybody and when people abuse you, don’t answer them. We want to continue to build this state for our generation and generations unborn,” Governor Eno said.
