A 73-year-old Israeli national, Avi Warshaviak, has died while staying at a hotel in the Garki area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Corinthia Villa Hotel, where Mr. Warshaviak was lodging with his wife.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the deceased experienced a sudden health emergency around 9:51 a.m. and was immediately taken to Asokoro General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The hotel’s Chief Security Officer, Okorie Emmanuel, reported the matter to the Garki Divisional Police Headquarters at approximately 11:23 a.m.
Following the report, police officers visited both the hotel and the hospital, carried out documentation of the scene, and transferred the body to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police sources confirmed that efforts are underway to contact the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria to initiate the necessary consular procedures.
