Trump Removes Kamala Harris’ Husband, Doug Emhoff, From Holocaust Museum Board

Trump fires Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff

Doug Emhoff, the husband of Formal Vice President Kamala Harris, has been removed from the board of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., as part of a broader move by the Trump administration to replace members with those more closely aligned with its views on Israel.

Emhoff, who is Jewish, was appointed to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council in January for a five-year term. In a statement posted on X, he expressed his disappointment, saying, “Holocaust remembrance and education should never be politicized. Turning one of history’s worst atrocities into a political issue dishonors the memory of six million Jews murdered by the Nazis.”

The Holocaust Memorial Council, which guides the museum’s operations and policy, has seen several other Biden administration appointees removed, including Ron Klain, former White House Chief of Staff; Tom Perez, former White House advisor; Anthony Bernal, former adviser to Jill Biden; and Susan Rice, former national security advisor under President Obama.

According to a termination email obtained by The New York Times, board members were notified by the White House Presidential Personnel Office that their roles were terminated “effective immediately,” with a brief message thanking them for their service.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the move, stating that President Trump intends to appoint new members who are “steadfast supporters of the State of Israel” and who will continue to honor the memory of Holocaust victims.

The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, established in 1993, is a federally chartered institution whose board typically includes bipartisan appointees serving five-year terms.
