Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has unveiled his vision for a second term ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election, outlining ambitious plans centered on smart urban development, transportation, healthcare, and youth empowerment.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his press secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo said his next term would build on the successes of his current administration while driving forward transformative initiatives aimed at positioning Anambra as a “green, liveable, and prosperous homeland.”

Key among the proposed projects are three smart cities: Awka 2.0, Next Onitsha, and the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City. These developments are intended to redefine urban living, stimulate economic growth, and promote environmental sustainability across the state.

In the health sector, the governor announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art oncology center to address the rising incidence of cancer in Nigeria. This will complement Anambra’s expanding telemedicine network, which aims to provide real-time digital access to medical consultations for both urban and rural residents—underscoring Soludo’s commitment that “every life must count.”

Transportation is another priority, with the rollout of the Anambra Transport Masterplan. The blueprint includes a statewide rail system, dualized Trunk A highways, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors, and a digital ticketing platform—all aimed at boosting productivity, improving mobility, and minimizing environmental impact.

Soludo also intends to tap into Anambra’s tourism potential through the development of major natural attractions such as the Ogbunike Caves, Owerre-Ezukala Waterfalls, and Agulu Lake into eco-tourism hubs, complete with modern infrastructure and enhanced security. The upcoming Marriott Hotel in Awka is expected to bolster the state’s hospitality and business tourism landscape.

On education and youth development, the governor announced a comprehensive bursary scheme to support students across the state, ensuring equitable access to education and opportunity.

According to the statement, “With his second-term vision, Governor Soludo is not just promising continuity but a bold leap toward transforming Anambra into a model state.”
