Atiku To FG: Treat Workers As Partners, Not Just Tools

          Atiku Abubakar

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has praised Nigerian workers for their vital role in driving national progress, urging the government to treat them as partners rather than tools for economic growth.

In a statement to mark Workers’ Day 2025, Atiku described workers as the “indomitable engine” behind Nigeria’s push for prosperity. He commended their resilience in the face of economic hardship and poor wages, calling their dedication “quiet heroism.”

“It is disheartening that those in power have failed to match workers’ sacrifices with meaningful support and justice,” he said, emphasizing the need for greater government accountability and protection of workers’ rights.

Atiku stressed that workers are the “heart and strength” of the nation and called for stronger safeguards to uphold their dignity and entitlements. He urged both the government and employers to view the labour force as equal partners in the country’s development.

“I urge policymakers to draw inspiration from this year’s Workers’ Day theme and engage with the workforce as true partners in building a greater Nigeria,” he concluded.
