The mayor of Novorossiisk, a major Russian port city on the Black Sea, declared a state of emergency on Saturday, May 3, after a suspected Ukrainian drone strike hit key infrastructure, injuring five people and damaging a grain terminal along with several residential buildings.
Mayor Andrei Kravchenko shared video footage on Telegram showing the aftermath—shattered windows, collapsed balconies, and rubble littering the streets. One car was crushed by debris, and at least three apartment buildings suffered significant damage. Among the injured was a woman in critical condition and two children, according to local officials.
Krasnodar region governor Veniamin Kondratyev said that debris from intercepted drones struck three grain storage units at the city’s terminal, sparking a fire that was later contained. No casualties were reported at the terminal.
The Delo Group, which operates the grain facility, confirmed the fire had been extinguished and that operations at its DeloPorts terminals were continuing under official guidance.
Ukraine has not officially responded to the reported strike, but its air force reported that Russia launched a major overnight offensive involving 183 drones and two ballistic missiles.
