The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested three suspected cultists and armed robbers accused of terrorizing residents along the Calabar–Itu road, recovering firearms and other dangerous items during the operation.
In a statement on Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Timfon John said the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence about a planned cult clash. Acting swiftly, police surveillance teams raided a guest house in Ntak Inyang around 5:00 a.m. on May 1.
Arrested at the scene were two men—Joseph Edet from Akon Itam and Ekon Isaiah from Ibiaku Uruan—who were identified as members of the Kuklux Klan secret cult, along with a female companion, Esther Otobong Edem.
Items recovered during the operation included a locally made pistol, a battle axe, a hammer, two mobile phones, two torches, a bottle containing a suspected charm, and a black bag with various belongings.
The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion.
