Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, made his first public appearance on Sunday following a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom. He attended the 2025 Thanksgiving Service of the Boys Brigade Metropolitan Battalion Council Nigeria, held at St. Cyprian’s Church, Anglican Communion, in Port Harcourt.
The service, presided over by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Oko-Jaja, marked the conclusion of the Boys Brigade’s successful religious camp activities in the state. According to a statement from the governor’s media aide, Nelson Chukwudi, the event also featured special prayers for Governor Fubara, his family, and lasting peace in Rivers State.
Governor Fubara was accompanied by Amaopusenibo Fubara Hart and Dr. Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja.
His return to Port Harcourt comes amid renewed political tensions, following fresh accusations from his estranged political mentor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. Wike has accused Fubara of orchestrating disruptions at a women’s empowerment programme organized by the Office of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
This latest development may further strain the fragile peace process aimed at reconciling both political figures.
