The 2025 Met Gala was held on Monday May 5 2025 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City hosted the annual Met Gala, unveiling the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” This year’s theme paid homage to the rich history of Black fashion and dandyism, drawing inspiration from Dr. Monica L. Miller’s seminal work, Slaves to Fashion. The dress code, aptly titled “Tailored for You,” encouraged attendees to present personalized interpretations of menswear and suiting, celebrating Black sartorial traditions.
The blue carpet was graced by a myriad of celebrities who embraced the theme with creativity and reverence. Zendaya, serving as one of the co-chairs, captivated in a crisp white Burberry suit complemented by a wide-brimmed hat, exuding modern elegance. Pharrell Williams donned a pearl-embellished pinstripe jacket, a tribute to Black working-class fashion, which reportedly took 400 hours to craft. Colman Domingo honored the late fashion icon André Leon Talley with a dramatic royal blue Valentino cape adorned with a gold breastplate.

Beyond the fashion, the 2025 Met Gala achieved a significant milestone by raising a record $31 million for the Costume Institute, surpassing the previous year’s $26 million. The event maintained its exclusive allure, with tickets priced at $75,000 and tables at $350,000, attracting a curated list of industry elites, celebrities, and influencers.
This year’s Met Gala stood out not only for its celebration of Black fashion but also for its emphasis on inclusivity and personal expression.
