Lateef Adedimeji’s Lisabi Wins Best Indigenous Film At AMVCA

Nigerian actor and filmmaker Abdullateef Adedimeji and his wife, Mo’ Bimpe Adedimeji, have won the Best Indigenous Language (West Africa) award at the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for their film Lisabi: The Uprising.

Dressed in chic, luxury outfits, the couple accepted the award with gratitude, dedicating it to God and thanking their team for its hard work and dedication.

Lisabi: The Uprising tells the story of Egba people in the 1800s, who were oppressed by the Alaafin and warriors of Oyo. The film follows Lisabi, a brave farmer who united fellow farmers to stand up against the tyrannical Ilari of Oyo.

The film competed in the category alongside Seven Doors by Femi Adebayo, Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre by Kunle Afolayan, Kaka, and Mai Martaba by Prince Daniel.

Lisabi: The Uprising is also nominated in several other categories, including Best Art Direction, Makeup, Cinematography, Lead Actor, Costume Design, Supporting Actor, Editing, Sound Design, and Best Movie.
