FG to close Ijora-Marine Bridge in Lagos for 21 days

The Federal Government has announced the temporary closure of the Ijora-Marine Bridge in Lagos State for urgent repair work.

In a statement released on Tuesday, May 13, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, said the closure will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, and will last for 21 days.

Kesha explained that some parts of the bridge will be completely shut, while others will have partial closures to allow for critical maintenance, including lifting the bridge deck and replacing damaged bearings.

“The goal is to improve the safety and comfort of all road users,” she said, adding that traffic diversions have been planned, and officials will be on site to help manage the flow of vehicles.

She appealed to motorists, residents, and business owners in the area to plan ahead and cooperate during the closure.

“Safety signs and traffic control tools will be in place to reduce disruptions. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and thank the public for their understanding,” she added.
