President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to renowned educationist and former Nigerian ambassador to the Netherlands, Professor Mary Lar, on her 90th birthday.

In a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Professor Lar for her remarkable contributions to education, diplomacy, and national development.

Born on May 15, 1935, in Langtang, Plateau State, Professor Lar is celebrated for her lifelong commitment to teaching and mentoring generations of Nigerian students. She began her career in secondary schools before transitioning to academia, where she made history as the first female professor from Northern Nigeria—a milestone that opened doors for many women.

President Tinubu also acknowledged her service as Nigeria’s ambassador to the Netherlands and her role in supporting her late husband, Solomon Lar, the first civilian governor of Plateau State.

Describing her as a “trailblazer and dedicated nation-builder,” the President applauded her lasting legacy in both the education and diplomatic sectors.

He wished her continued good health and long life, expressing hope that she would remain a source of inspiration through her ongoing community service and mentorship.
