The South-East chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned its members to ignore a circulating invitation to a so-called stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, calling it fraudulent and divisive.

In a statement released on Monday, the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Sir Chigozie Igwe, said the warning was necessary to prevent confusion and preserve the party’s unity. He accused one Chidiebere Egwu, who falsely claims to be the PDP South-East National Vice Chairman, of attempting to mislead members with the fake invitation.

“This so-called meeting is a deceptive plot by individuals acting as agents of division,” Igwe said. “The invitation is not sanctioned by the party and should be completely disregarded.”

He emphasized that all official PDP South-East activities and meetings must be held within the region, not in Abuja, and recalled that the most recent valid meeting took place on May 14, 2025, at the Enugu State Government House, led by Governor Peter Mbah.

Igwe also reaffirmed that Chief Ali Odefa remains the legitimate South-East Zonal Chairman, as ratified by the PDP’s National Working Committee.

“Chidiebere Egwu is not a recognized member of the PDP. He has aligned himself with forces attempting to destabilize our party. We strongly reject his actions and urge loyal members to stand firm with the party’s elected leadership,” the statement added.

The South-East PDP further warned that any unauthorized actions aimed at undermining the party’s structure will be met with appropriate disciplinary measures.
