Manchester United are close to finalizing the signing of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
According to reports from Mail Sport in April, United had already made significant progress in talks with the player and are now set to activate his £62.5 million release clause.
Brazilian outlet UOL reports that Cunha is preparing to sign his contract with United, with the club still having room in their budget ahead of the summer transfer window.
Cunha joined Wolves from Atletico Madrid in 2022 for around £34 million and has since scored 27 goals and provided 13 assists in 63 Premier League appearances.
When asked about Cunha’s future last month, Wolves manager Rúben Amorim declined to comment, saying:
“I will not say anything about Matheus, because if I say it once, I’ll have to answer for every situation — whether it’s yes or no. It’s hard to predict what will happen.”
