JAMB: 379,000 Candidates Await Release Of UTME Resit Examination Results Tomorrow

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced that it will release the results of the resit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 379,000 candidates tomorrow.

Nigerians are eagerly anticipating these results.

The resit was conducted following widespread complaints about mass failures and technical glitches during the initial UTME.

In response, the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, after consulting with stakeholders and issuing an apology, called for the resit examination.

This decision particularly impacted candidates from Lagos and the southeastern states.

The rescheduled UTME took place between Friday and Monday.

Out of over 1.9 million candidates who initially took the exam, more than 1.5 million scored below 200 marks out of a possible 400, raising significant concerns among stakeholders.

The initial results from the 1,955,069 candidates processed and released by JAMB showed that only 4,756 candidates (0.24%) scored 320 and above. Additionally, 7,658 candidates (0.39%) scored between 300 and 319, bringing the total number of top-tier scorers (those scoring 300 and above) to 12,414 (0.63%).

Furthermore, 73,441 candidates (3.76%) scored between 250 and 299, while 334,560 candidates (17.11%) scored between 200 and 249. A total of 983,187 candidates (50.29%) scored between 160 and 199. Another 488,197 candidates (24.97%) scored between 140.

The breakdown further showed that 159,57,419 candidates (2.94%) scored between 120 and 139, 3,820 candidates (0.20%) scored between 100 and 119, and 2,031 candidates (0.10%) scored below 100.
