The State President of the Cooperative Motor Union in Abia State, Mr. Chukwuma Azode, has declared the full support of all motor unions and transport operators in the state for Governor Alex Otti’s re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking on Thursday in Aba during a Two-Million Man March organized by various transport unions, Azode said the rally was in appreciation of the governor’s impressive road infrastructure projects, especially in Aba.
“With all Governor Otti has achieved, I don’t believe any reasonable politician should consider running against him. Any opposition is taking a huge risk,” Azode stated. “We, the people of Abia, and especially the transport unions, stand solidly behind Dr. Alex Otti. This march is part of our endorsement of his leadership for another term.”
He emphasized that the rally was not politically motivated, but rather a show of support from across different political backgrounds based solely on Otti’s developmental achievements.
“We’re here to celebrate the governor’s outstanding performance, particularly in road construction. In just two years, he has demonstrated great capacity, and Aba is already seeing the results. This will help attract more investors to the city,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union, Comrade Victor Azubuike, said the rally was a way to thank the governor for improving transport conditions in Aba. He noted that transporters in the city have been some of the biggest beneficiaries of the Otti administration’s policies.
Dr. Obioma Nwaogbe, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, highlighted the transformational impact of ongoing road projects across the state.
“The roads being constructed benefit transporters directly. They’ve made travel easier for drivers and passengers alike. That’s why the transport sector is fully in support,” Nwaogbe said.
He also noted that Aba was chosen for the rally because it serves as the economic hub of the eastern region, and a major focus of Governor Otti’s development agenda.
The massive march, which began at Osisioma Junction and moved through Aba-Owerri Road to Asa Road, saw jubilant crowds celebrating Governor Otti’s achievements across the streets of the Enyimba city.
