Veteran Nollywood actress Nkechi Nweje was laid to rest today in her hometown in Anambra State, as family, friends, and colleagues came together to honor her life and legacy.
Nweje, who passed away on March 21, 2025, was celebrated for her impactful roles in the Nigerian film industry. While the cause of her death has not been publicly disclosed, her sudden passing deeply saddened many across the entertainment community.
The burial ceremony drew a large turnout, particularly from Nollywood, with veteran actors, filmmakers, and close associates paying their final respects. Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, was also in attendance, underscoring the actress’s influence beyond the screen.
