The African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led opposition coalition has announced a new venue for the official unveiling of its political platform, after the Wells Carlton Hotel in Abuja cancelled the original booking just hours before the event on Wednesday, July 2.
According to a statement signed by ADC’s Deputy National Secretary, Nkem Ukandu, the unveiling will now take place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, also in Abuja. Members of the National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, BOT, and other key stakeholders are expected to attend. Please note that attendance is self-sponsored, the statement said.
The last-minute cancellation by Wells Carlton Hotel, which cited an unspecified “internal compliance matter,” drew sharp criticism from coalition members. Media personality and politician Dele Momodu, who shared the hotel’s message, accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of interfering with the event.
The ADC is being positioned as the new platform for a broad opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections. High-profile political figures reportedly backing the coalition include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, ex-Senate President David Mark, and former governors Rauf Aregbesola and Nasir El-Rufai.
