Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called on all indigenes and residents to take part in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) ahead of the state’s governorship election scheduled for August 8, 2026.
The governor’s appeal was made in a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began the nationwide voter registration exercise.
Describing the CVR as a vital civic duty, Adeleke encouraged eligible voters to register or update their information, especially those who have lost or misplaced their voter cards.
“The 2026 governorship election is critical for sustaining good governance in Osun,” he said. “We must all ensure we’re registered to continue enjoying a responsive and people-focused administration.”
Adeleke also urged Osun indigenes living outside the state to transfer their voter cards to Osun and support the continuation of “people-oriented leadership.”
“Our voter card is our tool to defend and uphold the good governance we’ve experienced over the past two and a half years,” he said. “We must vote, protect our votes, and resist any attempt to undermine the will of the people.”
He further directed state officials and community leaders across all local governments to mobilize residents for the registration exercise and expressed confidence that INEC would ensure a smooth and transparent process.
