Amaechi Slams Tinubu, Pledges To Stop His Re-Election In 2027

Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation and South-South leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared his intention to challenge and stop President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking to supporters on Wednesday, July 23, at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Amaechi expressed strong disapproval of the current administration, blaming it for the growing economic hardship across the country.

I’m tired of this government,” he said. “If a wealthy person is spending N4 million on electricity, only God knows how ordinary Nigerians are surviving.

He called on residents of Rivers State to join the ADC, emphasizing the need for active political participation to curb electoral malpractice and restore true democratic governance.

We must stop result writing in Rivers State. Go and register with the ADC — let’s change the system, he urged.

Amaechi’s comments signal a more aggressive posture as the ADC positions itself ahead of the 2027 elections, with growing discontent over economic challenges and political leadership in the country.
