Ancelotti Bids Farewell To Madrid, Passes The Baton To Alonso

Carlo Ancelotti has officially said goodbye to Real Madrid ahead of his final game at the Santiago Bernabéu, expressing deep emotion and extending warm wishes to Xabi Alonso, who is widely expected to replace him as head coach.

Although not yet confirmed, Alonso is tipped to take over after a historic unbeaten Bundesliga season and German Cup win with Bayer Leverkusen. Ancelotti praised Alonso’s qualities and wished him success, saying, “He’s got what it takes to manage this club.”

Ancelotti leaves after two spells at Madrid, totaling six seasons, 15 major trophies—including three Champions League titles—and a lasting legacy. He will now take charge of the Brazilian national team.

The veteran Italian coach shared that his farewell will be highly emotional, as it coincides with Luka Modrić’s final Bernabéu appearance. In a heartfelt social media letter, Ancelotti called his connection with Real Madrid “eternal.”

Real Madrid and President Florentino Pérez paid glowing tributes to the departing coach, recognizing his success and embodiment of the club’s values.
