Anthony Joshua’s family says they will fully back any decision he makes about returning to boxing, following recent personal tragedies.

Anthony Joshua’s family has pledged unwavering support if the former heavyweight champion decides to make a return to the ring, stressing that the final decision rests entirely with him.

Joshua’s future in boxing has remained uncertain in recent weeks following a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his strength coach, Sina Ghami, and his personal trainer, Latif “Latz” Ayodele. The boxer was hospitalized after the incident but has since been discharged.

Speaking to Punch, Joshua’s uncle, Ademola Joshua, said the family stands firmly behind whatever path the two-time world champion chooses to take.

“We are proud of him, very proud,” he said. “The way we, the elderly, think is different from the way the younger ones think, but it is entirely his decision. He makes the final call, and we respect whatever he chooses.”

He also acknowledged the emotional strain the family endures whenever Joshua competes.

“Whatever he has decided within himself, we will support him fully. Each time he’s knocked down, it feels like our hearts are coming out of our chest. All the emotions whenever he’s fighting — it’s a lot of trauma for us too.”

As Joshua continues to reflect on his next steps, his family says their priority remains his well-being, whether that leads him back into the ring or toward a new chapter beyond boxing.
