Christopher Maikalangu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, has won at his polling unit in the Abuja Municipal Area Council chairmanship election.
Official results from the unit show that Maikalangu polled 229 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Dr. Moses Paul of the African Democratic Congress, who secured 15 votes.
Maikalangu, who voted earlier in the day, described the voting process as smooth and efficient while speaking with journalists after casting his ballot.
“I am impressed with the turnout today; you can see for yourself that my people are out here to vote. I am satisfied with the process. In less than three minutes, I cast my vote. I think everything is okay,” he said.
