Suspected kidnappers have abducted a couple, identified as Mr. and Mrs. Jamiu Olawale, in Ilu-Abo, a community in Akure North Local Government Area, on the night of Friday, February 20.
Reports say the couple had just returned from their shop and were in front of their house when armed assailants emerged from a nearby bush and forcibly took them away.
During the attack, the gunmen also fired at a neighbor, Patrick Ilumaro, who was sitting outside his home. He was rushed to the hospital and is currently receiving treatment.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the command spokesperson said efforts are ongoing to rescue the couple unharmed and apprehend the suspects.
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, immediately deployed tactical teams along with conventional operatives to search the surrounding bushes and nearby areas to ensure the victims’ safe recovery and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The spokesperson urged members of the public to remain calm and provide credible, actionable information that could aid the investigation at the nearest police station.
