Arsenal are joining Bayern Munich in showing a transfer interest in Brighton and Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma, according to the latest reports.
The Gunners are looking to add to their squad over the summer transfer window, with attacking options set to be top of the agenda. The signing of a new striker is a priority for the club with targets including Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko among others.
But it seems the club are also keen to add a new winger to their options before the new Premier League season. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is one of the players reportedly being looked at.
However, it is claimed that the Brazilian’s wage demands could be a stumbling block in any potential move. As reported by football.london, that is the reason that Chelsea have not pursued their interest in the player.
Arsenal could now be looking at potential options. Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Mitoma has now been added to the list as Andrea Berta assess options for the summer.
He adds that Rodrygo is considered the ‘dream’ signing, but wages is seeing any potential deal stall. Arsenal are therefore looking at various other options, including Mitoma.
The Japan international has impressed for Brighton since joining the club in 2021. This season he has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 35 Premier League appearances.
The 28-year-old is said to be of interest to Bayern Munich as they search for replacements for Kinsley Coman and Leroy Sane. But Arsenal could now provide competition.
Mitoma will have two years on his Brighton contract remaining when the summer transfer window opens, meaning the Seagulls will have to make a decision on whether to cash in on him if Arsenal or any other team pursue their interest.
The Seagulls are said to have turned down bids of £54 million and £61 million from Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr back in January. It is reported that they have put an £80 million price tag on the player ahead of the summer window.
