Atiku, Peter Obi Arrive In Abuja For National Political Meeting

Ex-Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, along with Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi, have arrived in Abuja for the National Political Consultative Group (North) meeting.

Atiku announced their arrival on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a photo of himself and Obi exchanging greetings with key stakeholders ahead of the event.

Obi addressed attendees about Nigeria’s current challenges, focusing on widespread poverty and its impact on industrial growth. He highlighted the potential of the North, saying, “I have always said the North can change Nigeria. The greatest asset of this country is in the North…”

The exact purpose of the group remains unclear, but it is believed to be a coalition platform among northern political stakeholders preparing for the 2027 presidential elections.

The meeting attracted prominent political figures, party leaders, and elder statesmen amid talks of a possible grand opposition coalition ahead of the next general elections. Notable attendees include Rotimi Amaechi, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, Adolphus Wabara, and Baba Chir Lawal.
