Aviation Workers Threaten Strike, Give Keyamo 7 Days To Act On New Salary

KEYAMO

Unions in Nigeria’s aviation sector have given the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, a seven-day ultimatum to implement a new salary structure for staff of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

In a joint letter dated July 31, four major unions expressed deep frustration over the government’s failure to implement a salary adjustment agreement that was concluded over eight months ago with NAMA management.

The letter was signed by the General Secretaries of the following unions:

  • Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN)
  • National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE)
  • Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP)
  • Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE)

The unions warned that if the issue is not resolved by August 7, workers would withdraw their services across all NAMA operations nationwide.

“A seven-day notice of withdrawal of services from today, Thursday, July 31, 2025, is hereby issued,” the letter reads.
“We have waited long enough. Our members, through their professional associations, have expressed repeated frustration over the lack of action on this agreement.”

The unions also urged all NAMA clients to prepare for possible disruptions, stressing that their patience has run out after months of inaction.
