Bauchi Governor Appoints Chinese National as Economic Adviser to Boost Global Partnerships

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appointed Chinese national Mr. Li Zhensheng as Economic Adviser to the state government, unveiling the decision during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi.

The governor said the appointment was part of a broader strategy to position Bauchi as a hub for international cooperation. The partnership will drive investments, infrastructure projects, and bilateral initiatives across agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade.

As part of the deal, Bauchi will establish a representative office in China to oversee projects and ensure efficient implementation. Mohammed stressed that the collaboration aligns with the diplomatic framework between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, aiming to attract foreign direct investment, create jobs, enhance skills, modernise critical sectors, and elevate the state’s global profile.

Responding, Zhensheng—who also serves as Chairman of the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre—pledged to mobilise resources for Bauchi’s economic transformation, promising sustainable growth, modern infrastructure, and improved livelihoods for residents.
