Nigerian sprint star Favour Ofili made history at the 2025 Adidas Atlanta City Games, running a stunning 15.85s (2.0m/s) in the women’s 150m to break the world record. The race took place at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, where the 22-year-old became the first woman to run the distance in under 16 seconds, smashing the previous record of 16.23s set by Shaunae Miller-Uibo in 2018.
Ofili’s record-breaking run led a strong performance by Team Nigeria at the street-style meet, which featured global track stars in a vibrant, fan-friendly setting.
Tobi Amusan, world record holder in the 100m hurdles, clocked 12.53s to finish second in her heat behind American Keni Harrison (12.44s), qualifying for the final. Amusan continues to build form after earlier performances of 12.74s and 12.66s in Xiamen and Keqiao.
Sprinter Udodi Onwuzurike also delivered a solid performance, running a season-best 10.20s to place second in his 100m heat, just behind South Africa’s Akani Simbine (10.13s). His time earned him a spot in the final and signaled a strong return to form this season.
The Adidas Atlanta City Games is a unique street meet that brings top athletes and fans together outside traditional stadiums in a high-energy environment.
