A 55-year-old British multi-millionaire has been arrested in Majorca following allegations of raping two women at a five-star hotel in Portals Nous, located on the island’s southwest coast.
The man, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, was taken into custody on Wednesday, May 7, after a Ukrainian woman reported that he had sexually assaulted her during a visit to the island’s capital, Palma. She was later taken to the hospital by police for medical attention.
According to Ultima Hora, a Spanish news outlet, another woman—reportedly from South America—filed a similar complaint against the same suspect several months ago. Both women are said to have met the man through a hypergamy dating platform that connects individuals with high-net-worth partners.
While no formal charges have been filed yet, Spanish authorities have opened a criminal investigation and submitted their findings to a court in Palma. The suspect, however, was released from custody at the Son Bugadelles police station without appearing before an investigating judge.
The man reportedly made his fortune in the early 2000s by launching a successful mobile phone company but later declared bankruptcy, having lost an estimated £40 million within just 18 months.
