Former President Muhammadu Buhari has extended warm birthday wishes to former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as he marks his 60th birthday.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, Buhari described Amaechi as a “golden fish” and a valuable asset to his administration.
He praised Amaechi for his pivotal role in reviving Nigeria’s railway sector, noting that the former minister shared his vision of bridging the country’s infrastructure gap.
“Amaechi worked closely with me in the drive to modernize Nigeria’s infrastructure—especially the railways, which had been neglected for decades. Under his leadership, the system experienced a remarkable turnaround, with the completion of abandoned projects, development of new transit hubs, and the launch of fresh initiatives across the country,” Buhari stated.
He noted that Amaechi’s efforts brought a new era to Nigeria’s railway network, enhancing both passenger and freight services, introducing modern rolling stock, and improving safety.
“The railway system, once the heartbeat of many Nigerian towns and cities, was revived and revitalized under his watch, serving millions and expanding national connectivity,” the former president added.
Buhari concluded by wishing Amaechi and his family many more happy and healthy years.
