CAF appoints Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea to oversee the blockbuster Nigeria vs Morocco AFCON semi-final

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea to take charge of the high-profile semi-final clash between Nigeria and Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The encounter is one of the most anticipated fixtures of the tournament, with both teams battling for a place in the AFCON final and a shot at continental glory.

Ayi Laryea will be assisted by South Africa’s Zakhele Thusi Granville Siwela and Lesotho’s Souru Phatsoane, while Mozambique’s Arsenio Chadreque Maringule will serve as an additional assistant referee. Rwanda’s Samuel Uwikunda has been named as the fourth official.

Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties will be handled by South Africa’s Abongile Tom, Tunisia’s Haytehm Guirat, and Kenya’s Stephen Onyango Yiembe.

The decisive semi-final is scheduled to kick off tomorrow at 9:00 p.m. Moroccan time at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
