Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly threatened to blow up rapper Kid Cudi’s car — and shortly after, the vehicle did explode — according to testimony from ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura during Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial in Manhattan on Wednesday, May 14.
Ventura, 38, told the court that Combs made the threat in late 2011 after discovering she was in a relationship with Grammy-winning artist Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi.
“He mentioned while we were out of the country that Scott’s car would be blown up and that he wanted his friends to see it,” Ventura testified.
She recalled a later meeting with Mescudi at SoHo House in New York, where he asked Combs, “What about my vehicle?” to which Combs replied, “What vehicle?” before ending the conversation.
Ventura, who was in an 11-year relationship with Combs, described a pattern of alleged abuse, manipulation, and control throughout their time together. She testified that Combs once lunged at her with a corkscrew and kicked her repeatedly after learning about her relationship with Mescudi — which she ended shortly after the threats.
“He found out during a ‘freak-off,’” she said, referencing multi-day sex parties that Combs allegedly orchestrated. She claimed he discovered the affair through emails found on her phone, involving a member of his own staff.
In her 2023 lawsuit, Ventura previously alleged that Combs had threatened to blow up Mescudi’s car. Around that time, Mescudi’s vehicle reportedly exploded in his driveway — an incident that had raised questions but had not been publicly linked to Combs until now.
Jurors were also shown an email Ventura sent in December 2011 to her mother and Combs’ former assistant. In it, she wrote, “The threats that [Sean Combs] has made of me are that he will release 2 sexually explicit videos: one on Xmas day [and one other].”
Photos of bruises on Ventura’s back and legs, reportedly taken by her mother, were presented in court. Asked whether she had been honest about the abuse at the time, she replied, “No, I told her it was the first time.”
Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and other federal offenses. If convicted, he faces a potential life sentence.
