The Dangote Petrochemicals Refinery has quietly implemented another reduction in the ex-gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, bringing the effective cost down to N825 per litre—below the publicly announced N835.
Sources confirmed on Monday that while marketers continue to pay the listed price of N835 per litre, the refinery now offers a N10 rebate after successful loading and evacuation of products from its facility. This adjustment allows retailers to sell at a slightly lower band, between N830 and N835 per litre, giving them a competitive edge over importers and private depot operators.
“This is not an official price cut, but more of a post-sale rebate,” one source explained. “The reduction is applied after the transaction is completed.”
This move marks the latest in a series of downward adjustments. Just last month, the refinery slashed its gantry price by N45—from N880 to N835 per litre—within one week, following the reinstatement of the Naira-for-Crude supply framework for local refiners.
Efforts to reach Dangote Group spokesperson Anthony Chiejina for confirmation or comment on the recent rebate were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
