Nigerian music heavyweights Don Jazzy (Michael Ajereh) and Shallipopi (Crown Uzama) set social media ablaze on Thursday with spontaneous cash giveaways worth millions of naira, sparking excitement across the internet.
It all began with a viral trend on X.com, encouraging users to tag one celebrity who could bless them with ₦1 million. Among those who joined the trend was Adeyemi Adejoke Abidemi, tweeting from the handle #PopoolaJoke4. She tagged Don Jazzy, writing, “Make I tag #DONJAZZY. I dey always dream about him. Happy new month sir.”
To her amazement, the Mavin Records boss responded with “Akant namba,” prompting her to drop her GTBank details. Just minutes later, she posted a screenshot of a ₦1 million credit alert and expressed her gratitude:
“Jesuuuuuusssssssss, this is huge. Thank you so much for your incredible generosity… God bless you abundantly sir.”
But the surprises weren’t over. After noticing her previous balance was a meager ₦67.29, Don Jazzy followed up with an additional ₦5 million, saying, “Amen ooo. That your akant balance is not healthy. I don add another 5 million. More blessings ma.”
Adeyemi confirmed receipt of the full ₦6 million, sharing a screenshot and writing:
“Oluwa oo. I am deeply grateful for this extraordinary blessing… May God continue to enlarge your coast.”
When a critic questioned her original balance, she replied, “None of my accounts get 1 naira… only GTBank get 67 naira.”
Meanwhile, Shallipopi also joined the generosity train, giving ₦1 million each to two lucky fans while promoting his latest album.
He tweeted:
“Summer is coming, ready your shorts and bikinis. Don’t forget to take a lil speaker with you in case you wanna jam da Album.”
A fan, Samuel Uchechukwu Ifesinachi (#teslime_dmw), replied, “Summer is coming, still broke as hell. Money to buy speaker no dey.”
Shallipopi responded, “Imma send u a million if you promise to get yourself a very big JBL.” The fan obliged, shared his account details, and Shallipopi confirmed the transfer with a posted receipt.
Another fan, Anirah Gabriel (#gabe_the_menace), reminded Shallipopi of a previous exchange where he had playfully asked, “How much you fit chop?” to which Gabriel had replied, “Shock me papi.”
After a lighthearted exchange, Gabriel jokingly requested “1 meter” from the artist. Shallipopi agreed and once again shared the transfer receipt of ₦1 million.
