Following the defection of Edo State House of Assembly Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, and several other members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, Frank Omosigho, representing Oredo East Constituency, has reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP.
In a statement issued Wednesday in Benin, Omosigho clarified that he remains a dedicated PDP member and was not present at the venue where the defections took place.
I, Hon. Frank Omosigho, remain firmly committed to the PDP, the party under which I was elected to serve the good people of my constituency,” he stated. “My focus is on delivering effective governance and strengthening the party in Edo State.
He urged his constituents to ignore rumors suggesting his defection and reaffirmed his dedication to advancing policies that benefit his community and the state at large.
As Edo navigates this political transition, I remain committed to providing stability and advocating for the collective good,” he added.
With the latest defections, the PDP has lost its majority in the Edo Assembly, retaining only six of the 14 seats it won in the 2023 election. The remaining PDP lawmakers are Frank Uyi Omosigho, Charity Iguodeyala Aiguobarueghan, Maria Edeko, Andrew Uzamere, Osawaru Natasha, and Inegbobor.
