Every Igbo Person Is a Biafran — Kcee Declares

Nigerian singer Kingsley Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, has said he considers himself a “Biafran,” insisting that every Igbo person falls under the identity.

Speaking in an interview with Yanga 89.9 FM in Lagos, Kcee explained that Biafra, in his view, is an ethnographical and cultural region similar to Arewa and Oduduwa, not a separatist label.

“As far as I am concerned, every Igbo man under the sun today is a Biafran. I am a Biafran. I am an Igbo man and Biafra is where we are from. It is just like the Arewas and Oduduwas,” he said.

He further noted that the name “Biafra” was adopted in 1967 after being suggested by Frank Opigo from Bayelsa, stressing that Igbo identity existed long before then.

“Before 1967, who are we? Igbos. Being Igbo means you are still a Biafran,” he added.
