Edo State athlete, Chidera Ezeakor, won the men’s 100m title at the 2024 National Sports Festival on Saturday, running a time 10.27s in a drama-filled race at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The final race didn’t go down without the fans feeling the heat on the track, as Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth bronze medalist, Favour Ashe, was disqualified for lining up with incomplete bibs.

Ezeakor finished the race ahead of Tokyo 2020 Olympic finalist, Enoch Adegoke, for a 1-2 Edo finish.

Rivers State’s Taiwo James finished third.

Kate Odumosu of Delta State won the women’s title in a time of 11.43s.
