Five members of a family from Banswara, Rajasthan, were among the victims of the devastating Air India plane crash that occurred in Ahmedabad on Thursday, just moments after takeoff.
The victims have been identified as Pratik Joshi, a software engineer; his wife, Dr. Komi Vyas; their twin sons, Pradyut and Nakul; and their eldest daughter, Miraya. The family was aboard flight AI171 when the aircraft tragically crashed into a medical college complex in the Meghaninagar area of Ahmedabad and burst into flames.
The journey was meant to mark a hopeful new beginning. After nine years of working in the UK, Pratik Joshi was finally bringing his wife and children to join him abroad to start a new life together. Just two days before the flight, Dr. Komi Vyas had resigned from her job, preparing to leave everything behind for a fresh start with her family.
Moments before boarding, the family had taken a selfie together and shared it with relatives—unaware it would be their last.
The heartbreaking news sent shockwaves through Banswara, where the family was well-known and loved. Friends, former colleagues, and neighbors were left reeling in grief.
“The whole town is in mourning,” a close family friend told News18, describing them as kind, warm, and full of promise.
