Five Days On, Search Continues For 2-Year-Old Swept Away By Delta Flood

Two-year-old girl still missing 5 days after being swept away by floodwater in Delta

Just two months after celebrating her second birthday, little Fortress, daughter of Mrs. Naomi Isiza, the Assistant Headmistress of Christi Angels Elementary/Nursery School, has been declared missing after a tragic incident involving floodwaters in Boji-Boji Owa, Delta State.

The heartbreaking event occurred as Mrs. Isiza was riding her motorcycle with her two children to school. At the junction of Deeper Life Street, off Old Lagos/Asaba Road—directly opposite the school—the motorcycle plunged into an uncovered drainage channel, and all three family members were thrown off.

While passersby managed to rescue Mrs. Isiza and her son, young Fortress was swept away by the rushing floodwaters and has not been found.

According to Ika Newspaper, the location is notorious for being a death trap during heavy rainfall. The same spot reportedly claimed the life of a Primary Four pupil, Favour Chukwuemeke, on November 3, 2023, under similar circumstances.

As of the time of this report, search efforts to locate Fortress are ongoing, but she remains missing.
