Andy Carroll has admitted he “made a mistake” and is seeking one last chance with ex-girlfriend Lou Teasdale, following the end of their year-long relationship, which was reportedly strained by his partying.
The former professional footballer’s friends revealed that he now regrets the breakup. A close friend told The Sun, “Andy has been saying he’s worried breaking up with Lou was a mistake. He lashed out after she complained about his partying and saying she’d rather he didn’t drink. They’re not back together but the door is open again. He’s even added her pictures back on his Instagram and followed her again. No one who knows them as a couple think there’s much hope of it working out but they both have doubts and are considering giving it one more chance.”
The pair had started dating following Carroll’s bitter split from his ex-wife Billi Mucklow. The breakup with Teasdale came eight weeks after Carroll was questioned by police over two alcohol-fueled arguments during a holiday in Greece. A source told The Sun, “Andy got sick of Lou’s demands and her influencer lifestyle. She’s always posting on social media and he hates that. He told her it was over this week. He’s single now.”
In the aftermath, Carroll wiped all traces of Teasdale from his social media. A friend added, “Andy and Lou have been having massive rows for a while. It’s been a tough time and now he’s back in the UK, he just wants to focus on football and his kids. He hates the influencer lifestyle. He has no interest in posing for loved-up pics. He’s most happy spending time with his children and kicking a ball around. Money and fame means nothing to him these days. It was clearly causing issues between them.”
The Sun also reported that Carroll’s partying contributed to the tension in the relationship. A mutual friend said, “Andy’s had a really tough 12 months and has struggled a lot since his marriage breakdown. Lou, who is sober, would prefer him to give up boozing, although she has dated other men who drink alcohol in the past. Andy’s mad about the idea, but she’s got his best interests at heart. She’s been there throughout all the ups and downs over the past year and really does love him. But it’s all been very toxic and upsetting. It’s as if they can’t live with or without each other. There are changes that Andy has to make – but it’s whether he is committed enough to do that. For now, he felt like he couldn’t make certain promises, but who knows what the future will hold for them both.”
Carroll, 36, and Teasdale’s whirlwind romance began just weeks after his split from Mucklow last summer, marking a turbulent year for the footballer both on and off the pitch.
