The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a stern warning to its patrol officers nationwide, urging them to avoid bribery and other unethical practices in the discharge of their duties.
Assistant Corps Marshal Yakubu Mohammad, the newly appointed Zonal Commanding Officer of FRSC Zone RS12HQ—covering Bauchi, Yobe, and Borno states—gave the caution on Friday in Bauchi, shortly after assuming office.
Mohammad emphasized that the Corps has implemented strict monitoring mechanisms to detect and discipline any personnel found engaging in misconduct. He noted that both bribe givers and receivers would be prosecuted under FRSC regulations.
“As we enter the rainy season, I call on road users to cooperate with our officers, prioritize safety, and obey traffic laws,” he stated. He urged motorists to avoid overloading, speeding, and the use of unroadworthy vehicles.
Reaffirming the agency’s commitment to professionalism, Mohammad highlighted the leadership approach of Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, which blends consultation with a clear reward-and-sanction system.
He also reiterated the Corps’ dedication to emergency response, public education, and enforcement, assuring collaboration with stakeholders and other security agencies to maintain safer roads across the country.
