Fubara: Justice Will Triumph In Rivers’ Political Crisis, Says On May Day

Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed confidence that “forces of justice, peace, and progress will prevail” in the state. In a statement issued on May Day by his spokesman, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara urged residents to remain hopeful and united amid the political turmoil, which has led to the declaration of emergency rule.

Fubara also took the opportunity to commend the state’s workforce, praising their resilience, patriotism, and commitment to duty on Workers’ Day 2025. He acknowledged the contributions of Rivers workers, describing them as the “backbone of the state’s development and a beacon of hope for a better future.”

In his message, Fubara highlighted the theme for this year’s Workers’ Day — Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate — stressing the importance of safeguarding workers’ well-being in the face of environmental and political challenges.

“The theme underscores the need to prioritize workers’ safety and well-being as vital for sustainable growth,” he said. Fubara also commended President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to advance labour reforms and create a safer, healthier working environment through climate-conscious policies.

Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to protecting workers’ rights and urged both public and private employers to uphold labour laws, respect workers’ dignity, and continually improve working conditions. He concluded with a prayer for wisdom and guidance for all leaders, reiterating his administration’s commitment to fostering a work environment that promotes dignity, opportunity, and prosperity for all.
