Governor Yusuf suspends aide over inflammatory remark about Kwankwaso

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has suspended Ibrahim Rabi’u, a Senior Special Reporter with the Ministry of Transportation, over what the state government described as “unguarded utterances” about the political status of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The suspension, which took immediate effect, was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim. Rabi’u has also been issued a formal query for making inflammatory remarks suggesting Kwankwaso’s alleged defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the government clarified that Rabi’u’s comments were his personal views and did not represent the official position of the Kano State Government.

The statement further warned all political appointees to refrain from making unauthorized public statements, especially on politically sensitive matters, without prior clearance.

“Any political appointee must obtain approval before making public comments on issues that reflect the government’s stance on important or sensitive matters,” the statement said.
