Hulk Hogan’s Life Story To Continue On Netflix Despite His Sudden Death

Hulk Hogan was filming Netflix documentary at the time of his death

Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan was in the midst of filming a Netflix documentary about his life and career when he passed away earlier this week at the age of 71.

According to CNN, the previously unannounced project—produced in collaboration with WWE—aims to explore Hogan’s iconic journey, both in and out of the ring. Despite his sudden death, production is expected to continue.

Sources close to the project revealed that the documentary has been in development since early 2024. More than 20 hours of never-before-seen sit-down interviews with Hogan had already been recorded, along with 30 additional hours of footage. Hogan had been fully involved in the making of the documentary, which insiders say would show fans a side of him they hadn’t seen before.

Although no release date has been set, filmmakers are now adjusting parts of the project in light of Hogan’s death. Cameras are expected to be present at WWE SmackDown on Friday to capture a special tribute segment.

Born Terry Bollea, Hogan became one of the most recognizable figures in professional wrestling during the 1980s and 1990s, playing a key role in turning WWE into a global entertainment powerhouse. His charisma and “larger-than-life” persona made him a cultural icon and helped open the door for wrestlers like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and John Cena to move into mainstream entertainment.

Hogan died Thursday in Clearwater, Florida, after suffering cardiac arrest. Authorities have ruled out foul play and confirmed that a routine investigation is underway.

The Netflix documentary is being directed by Bryan Storkel and produced by Connor Schell’s Words + Pictures studio, in partnership with WWE. The project was first reported by Puck.
