JAMB Sets 2025 Admission Cut-Off for Universities

At the 2025 policy meeting held on Tuesday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in collaboration with university heads, set the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities at 150.

This means no university will be allowed to admit candidates who score below 150 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Despite this national benchmark, several top-tier institutions—including the University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, and Pan-Atlantic University—have independently raised their minimum score requirement to 200.

Meanwhile, some newly established private universities proposed lower thresholds, with some suggesting a UTME cut-off as low as 120. In response, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede recommended a more balanced figure of 160 for such institutions.

More details are expected as JAMB finalizes its admission guidelines for the 2025 academic session.
