Labour Party Schedules Lagos LG Primaries for Friday, Confirms Indirect Method

The Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party has scheduled its chairmanship primaries for Friday, ahead of the upcoming local government elections set for July 12.

State Party Chairman, Pastor Dayo Ekong, confirmed the date in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.

Ekong stated that the primaries will be conducted across all local government areas using the delegate (indirect) system. She also noted that councillorship primaries are being held on Thursday across all wards in the state.

“We are committed to free, fair, and transparent primary elections,” she said. “We are confident of a strong performance in the upcoming polls.”

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) is expected to conduct the elections in 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas across the state.
