Following a 4-3 win over Real Madrid, Hansi Flick’s men are now just two points off winning this season’s La Liga title – and in the aftermath of their triumph, Lamine Yamal has taken aim at Jude Bellingham, who liked Alessandro Bastoni’s post after Inter Milan knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League.
In a tough week for the Catalan heavyweights, Flick’s young stars put on a show after going two goals – courtesy of the inevitable Kylian Mbappe – down within 14 minutes. The Frenchman added a third in the 70th minute, but Barcelona were 4-2 up by that point.
The latest El Clasico finished 4-3 in favour of La Blaugrana – and that’s despite a controversial VAR call in the affair’s dying embers that saw Fermin Lopez’s powerful strike chalked off after a pitchside review. A Spanish journalist has claimed that, due to its controversial nature, Barcelona should ‘demand an explanation’.
Eric Garcia kicked off the scoring for the hosts in the 19th minute before the typical bagsmen – Yamal and Raphinha – got in on the fun. The former, still just 17 years of age, struck in the 32nd minute and, two minutes later, Raphinha got his first before adding his second on the stroke of half-time.
Referring to the fact that both ex-Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos and Bellingham – widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in world football – liked Bastoni’s post after Davide Frattesi’s 99th-minute goal ended Barcelona’s European top table dreams, Yamal couldn’t help but take aim at the Englishman.
After contributing to yet another win over Los Blancos, the teenage sensation posted a plethora of snaps from the memorable day – from his posing with none other than Thierry Henry to celebrating his goal – on his Instagram.
Sending a clear message to those who liked Bastoni’s post, the Esplugues de Llobregat native wrote ‘like this one too’ along with a winking emoji. The jab didn’t go unnoticed and the likes of Flick, Torres, Gavi and Inigo Martinez were all on hand to reply.
Flick applauded his team for, despite a damning week, their spirited display against Los Blancos. Per The Metro, he said: “It’s fantastic for the fans and the player. Real Madrid are a great team, but we managed to come back from 2-0 down. After the game in Milan, with 120 minutes, it wasn’t easy.”
With just three games of the 2024/25 La Liga campaign left to play; it seems inevitable that Barcelona will be adding a 35th league title to their ever-growing CV. They face Espanyol and Villarreal before travelling to Athletic Club on the final day.
