Liverpool have completed the signing of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez in a deal worth £40 million, pushing their total summer spending beyond £200 million.
The 21-year-old Hungarian international has signed a five-year contract at Anfield, becoming the latest addition to a busy transfer window that has already seen the arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for a combined £145.5 million, along with goalkeepers Giorgi Mamardashvili and Armin Pecsi.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Kerkez expressed his delight:I’m really happy. It’s an honour and a privilege to join one of the biggest clubs in the world – the biggest club in England. I’m excited and proud to be here.
I’ll go home for a few days now, enjoy the moment, and then I can’t wait to come back, put on the training kit, and start preparing for the season. I’ll give absolutely everything to help the club win trophies – and hopefully score some goals at Anfield. I can’t wait to hear the roar.
Kerkez impressed during the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, scoring two goals and providing six assists in 38 appearances for Bournemouth. Liverpool had been monitoring him closely, with his performances catching the eye throughout the season.
Interestingly, Liverpool’s new sporting director Richard Hughes – who joined from Bournemouth last summer – was the same executive who initially brought Kerkez to the Cherries from AZ Alkmaar in 2023.
In anticipation of Kerkez’s departure, Bournemouth had already signed a replacement, bringing in Adrien Truffert from Rennes earlier this month in a deal worth an initial £10.1 million, potentially rising to £14.3 million.
