Liverpool have confirmed the signing of highly rated defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes in a deal worth £60 million.
The Premier League champions reached an agreement on Deadline Day, with the 20-year-old centre-back completing his medical ahead of a move that will see him officially join the club on July 1.
Liverpool will pay an initial £55 million fee, with a further £5 million included in performance-related add-ons. Jacquet will remain with Rennes for the remainder of the current season before linking up with the Reds ahead of the 2026–27 campaign.
“Liverpool have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais, with the defender set to join the club ahead of the 2026–27 season, subject to a work permit and international clearance,” the club said in a statement on its official website.
“The Reds have secured a deal for the 20-year-old that will see him complete the remainder of the current campaign in Ligue 1 before moving to Anfield on a long-term contract.”
Jacquet, a France Under-21 international with five caps at that level, has made 18 Ligue 1 appearances for Rennes this season. Since making his senior debut in January 2024, he has featured 31 times for the club across all competitions and also gained top-flight experience during a loan spell with Clermont Foot.
The young defender was part of the France squad that reached the final of the 2024 UEFA Under-19 European Championship, where he was named in the Team of the Tournament after a series of standout performances.
